China Approves: Google Motorola Merger

China antitrust and competition regulators have finally approved the merger of Google and Motorola Mobility.

Google will acquire the hardware manufacturer Motorola Mobility for 12.5$ billion, the deal will be closed this coming week probably. The deal was set early this year with the approval from a series of regulators around the world. Both the companies got the deal approved across the regulators within few hours in February, except Israel, Taiwan and China, China being the last hurdle.

The confirmation about this merger was almost there in the last quarter of 2011 as you can see in the video featured below.

This intense regulatory scrutiny is a routine part of purchasing process in China for every company which makes more than 400 million yuan in China and 10 billion yuan globally.

A spokesperson from Google confirmed that the Chinese government has finally given the green signal to this merger. This is a significant move by Google as the Android mobile operating system maker will have the smartphone of there own.
