iOS 6: Beyond What You Expect !!!

iOS 6: Beyond What You Expect !!!

iOS which is the best mobile operating system available in the market, has become the first choice for advanced users. It has more than 80% of users who are using latest version as compared to Android, which was launched at the same time, has only 7% users with the updated version. Hence, it shows that iOS has the most advanced users. Last year, iOS5 was a big step towards mobile operating system, so what could we expect from iOS 6?. After going through with the beta version of iOS 6, I must say it has everything to make our experience rich every day. It has lot to do & lot to explore, beyond what we expect from any mobile operating system. Now let me walk you through with my experience with iOS 6 beta.

Siri : After using iOS 6 beta version I would say 8 months old Siri has become smarter & come up with lot of new skills. It looks amazing to see score & player cards for football & basket ball through Siri. If you wanna go out for movie or just wanna have a quality time in a restaurant, Siri is the best choice. She can book a show of your favorite movie & reserve a table of your choice in a restaurant, all you need to do is, just ask Siri to help you out. One thing which i like most about new Siri is, she can speak so many other languages like Japanese, Spanish, Italian, Korean, Mandarin &  Cantonese. You must have heard hands free, but apple has gone way ahead and made Siri “Eyes Free”. Apple is trying to use Siri in a better way with cars, even few car manufacturers have started working on this integrated system in which user will have a Siri button on their steering wheel to wake up Siri and talk to her. There is another feature I was expecting before is, launching apps through Siri.

Facebook: iOS has come up with a deep integration of Facebook. All you need to do , is just hit settings > Facebook > enter username and password.  In short apple has integrated Facebook with apps store, notes, Siri, iTunes store, contacts & calender. All of your Facebook contacts, events, notification will sync with iOS 6 automatically.

Phone: What happens when you are in a meeting and your phone starts ringing which can’t be answered by you.  You feel like to inform the caller quickly via text or anyhow to remind him to call you back later. I think there is something done by iOS 6 for the same. Phone app in iOS 6 has a new control on the right hand side of the incoming call. If you slide this up, you see two options “Reply with Message” or “Remind Me Later”.  Lets say you hit “Reply with message” you get few more preformed one liner messages which you can use to remind the caller to contact you back after sometime. In case of choosing “Remind me Later”, there are few options which you can use like “In 1 hour”, “When I leave” etc.

Do not Disturb: People who don’t want to get bothered by text messages, push notification or unwanted calls, getting a new way to control others to bother them. Do not Disturb allows users to get the messages, push notification etc without lighting up the screen or making any sound to wake them up. One can easily schedule when does he want calls and from whom with “Do not Disturb”. What about  if there is an emergency and someone trying to contact you again and again. In this scenario, any call which comes back in less than 3 minutes will get through and your phone starts ringing showing emergency call.

Safari: Like the way apple added reader tab to read content even offline last year, has come up with new tab called iCloud on safari. Smart app banner is a new function, allows you to download your favorite app in just one click.

Passbook: What is the simplest way to get all your passes in one place ? The answer is “Passbook”, iOS 6 brand new app. It allows you to keep your boarding passes, store cards, coupons, movie tickets at one place in such a beautiful way, which does not give you hard time at all to get what you want. All these cards are live, so in case there is any change  it comes up as a notification and gets the card updated right in the app at the same time.

Facetime: It’s one of the best ways for video conferences but as we all know It only works with wi-fi. Now iOS 6 has enabled Facetime over cellular, so doesn’t matter where you are, one can easily answer the call even from iPad or Mac.

Guided access: Now a days Kids do love studying with iOS on iPad, but what you can do to stop your kid not to play with the settings or other apps you don’t want them to touch. Here Guided Access comes into the picture, which allows parents to disable the settings to stop kid hit them accidentally. It even locks the device in single app  mode.

Maps: In iOS 6 Apple has built a brand new app & dropped Google maps for ever. This app has Turn to Turn navigation, it gets updated with your speed and rest conditions. This new app provides real time traffic view & incidents to make your drive experience smooth everyday. Flyover mode is one of the attractions of iOS6 in which you can have a 3D view which is the most beautiful view I have ever seen.

VIP:  VIP makes you not to miss emails, you can’t afford to miss. In short there is a preformed folder for VIP marked emails, so if you get an email from any of the VIP email address, you get the notification box even  if your iDevice is locked.

iOS 6 is coming with 200 new features & is expected to be released in coming September, however beta version is out for the developers. iOS6 has lot of new features like game center challenges, a new designed app store, per account signature in mail, lost mode, an iPad clock, App in safari search results, VoiceOver improvements, Personal dictionary in iCloud and many more to make our life easy.

We will have to wait to see what kind of response will iOS 6 get from iFans ? My experience was great, hope you do the same !!
